Every composer has his/her personal way of writing. This allows them to be creative in the most sufficient way and also allows listeners to here the voice from the composers deepest thoughts.

I write from an emotional or visual inspiration. Emotional more so than visual. I simply write what I hear/feel and I think it is important to stay true to that to a certain extent. Now that being said, I enjoy knowing that my music has spoken to someone on some emotional level.
I have found (at least for me) that the way to achieve this is to write music for the people and less of writing for theorists and instrumentalists.

As a New York City freelance musician, it is an interesting and an incredible experience! I have the pleasure of playing alongside some of Americas greatest musicians.

It is such a fulfilling experience to add to the artistic ability of the group while also gaining valuable knowledge.
For me it is important to be versatile as a freelance musician to have the best experience, to optimize the possibility of travel and to keep my mind fresh with new ideas.

I had the privilege of studying with incredible teachers such as Joseph Alessi - Principal Trombonist New York Philharmonic as well as Dr. Per Brevig- Retired Principal Trombonist The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. There were of course more teachers as well. (Mentioned on the teacher page)

While studying with these teachers, I learned teqhniques to ge better as a trombonist but also learned a great deal about the art of teaching. While at The Juilliard School with Alessi, I underwent an embouchure change that turned my life upside down.

With essentially having to relearn to play, I learned to incorporate fundamentals to provide me with a strong foundation for brass playing.

While at Manhattan School of Music with Brevig, I learned to be as musical as possible to optimize not only my personal performance but the overall performance with an ensemble. As a teacher these ideas are some of my strong points.
